Description

I know that I said that I was on hiatus from DA, but I just had to show you guys what I am currently working on and what is going to take the better part of 2 years to finish.

This is the WIP cover for my story "Child of Angels": about a woman who discovers the secrets of her sordid family history and must use these secrets to change the world for the better. Along the way, she finds who she really is, falls in love, even gets into a battle or two...^_^.

I am really proud of this story that I have been writing, and I only hope that I can do it justice by putting it into a graphic novel. It is going to be a long journey and I am glad that there are a few of you here on DA who will tell me what is wrong with the pages as I post them, because I haven't a single clue what I am doing!!! 8D. Like I said earlier, this is a WIP cover, but I don't think it is off to such a bad start, I like the way the three characters came out, but I want at least something in the background, you know? any suggestions?

PS: if anyone knows a colorist who specializes in marvel style color and may be looking for work in the future, this is definately the spot. if you are a colorist, feel free to send me your colored version of this, and maybe we will talk a little more.

Thanks!

vexel work done in PS CS5

First of all I need to compliment you on your shading techniques - the small lines under their chins are working brilliantly! You could try to use the same technique or a criss cross technique on the pants to give them more form and texture, cause right now they all look a bit flat. The shirts are completely awesome though - the large black shapes are perfectly placed, especially on her top around the waist.

Hands for me are like waaaaay up there with drawing a horse from scratch; it takes me forever to get it right, so I am very impressed here - the only hand is the right guys hand (the one on her back) - it seems like he's not really holding her, making it a bit more flat and maybe showing some of his nails might make it appear to be flatter against her back and in that way that he is dragging her closer.

The expressions are very cool, especially how the left guy looks at the right guy. Priceless - makes me want to read this comic immediately!

I think the text could use some more work - the outer glow softens it up too much, especially against the rough edges at the bottom of the three. Now I don't know if you made the font yourself or used one that was already there - and I can't even suggest another font, cause I don't have that kind of knowledge <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b…" width="15" height="15" alt=":B" title="Bucktooth"/> - but I would suggest to play around with the fonts some more. I do like how the text angles away from the three.

Looking closer at the lineart in the faces; beautiful! The variation between thick and thin lines work comepletely as it should!

Overall I really like this picture and I can't wait to see more of this comic!
